An English good friend of mine, Sue, who lives in Barcelona encouraged us to prepare a party to meet our new neighbours
When arrived to Manchester, we went to introduce ourselves to our 4 nearest neighbours. Two of them looked surprised and the other 2 families were very friendly.
A few days later, we went back to them and invited them to the birthday of my daughter Laura. It was a good opportunity to meet them.
How many neighbours do you think attendeded our party? Just one family came. We shared more than two hours of chatter. They gave us good advice and offered us help in our new life in England. They were really fantastic and we had big fun. They told us that we were the first tenants in 10 years who had knocked on his door to say hello!!
The next morning, our new neighbours Louise and Andy left us an affectionate postcard in the mailbox.
Any Conclusion? Spain is different! Spanish people enjoy more relationships, we are closer and more empathetic people. Fortunately there are English people who also like meeting people, like Louise, Andy and Sue!
