With this title, Ivan Ostrowicz surprised the audience TEDx Barcelona on October 7, at our meeting LIMITLESS. For me, the best conference during an afternoon full of learning sensations, starring people who wanted to share with more than 500 people their experiences.
Ivan Ostrowicz began with a Creative Opening his talk, implicating everyone and forcing us to participate from the first minute.
- I learn
- You learn
- He/She learns
- All of us…
And he stopped speaking…
- And all answer: “All of us learn”…
- No! All of us forget!
Indeed, the global message conveyed Ostrowicz to us was the need to personalize education and interact with the student to get consolidated learning.
- It is not enough to teach, we should focus on helping people to learn. And like every person is different and learns differently, the solution is to customize teaching.
- It is not enough to listen to a new concept just once to assimilate. In the words of Ivan Ostrowicz, “Adaptive memory retention is based on the spaced repetition of exercises that automatically adapt to the rhythm of the student, optimizes retention and consolidation of knowledge and skills development”. Repeating and reviewing the content multiplies 3 times the possibility of retaining the message.
- It is not enough to listen to the teacher and watch a slide show with a message. You need to practice to develop that knowledge, internalize it and be able to apply it in the future. Practicing means once again flee from the theory and methodology exhibition and invite students to experience, to make mistakes, to find out by themselves all what they can do.

Learning Curve with or without refreshment
Great discussion!! How many times have we heard that classes are overcrowded and teachers fail to adapt to the needs of each student? We are all aware of this need…
Great news!! In the XXI century we have solutions, tools, new methodologies. Why don’t we put them into practice to improve the present and especially the future of our youth?
